Question by jutland_452: During WW2 , why did the Canadian aviators have their camouflaged aircraft painted dark grey and dark green?
During the early years of the war in Europe, British pilots flew fighter aircraft that were painted in dark earth and dark green. However, the Canadians piloted aircraft that where camouflaged in “mixed grey” and dark green. Specifically, Flight Seargent E.N McDonnell 412, a Canadian, is documented to have flown a Spitfire Mk 2 in 1941 with the colors I mentioned.

I don’t know for sure, but first camouflage has to blur the contour color comes later.
Might be that the Canadians used grey and green because there are more rocky areas in their country than in england.
