Burg Simpson Eldredge Hersh & Jardine, P.C. is pleased to announce shareholder Diane Vaksdal Smith has been appointed to the Operation TBI Freedom advisory board. Colorado-based Operation TBI Freedom is a free, statewide program, run by the non-profit group Rocky Mountain Human Services, which provides comprehensive support for active duty and military veterans with traumatic brain injury (TBI) who have served in the current Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts.
Speaking of her appointment Diane said, I am proud to have been asked to join Operation TBI Freedoms advisory board. I hope that my involvement and input can provide guidance and help shape the services our program offers returning veterans and families.
Diane continued, It is estimated that 1 in 5 soldiers will return home with a traumatic brain injury and, according to the VA, that number in Colorado could be as high as 5000. It is crucial the community comes together to support our wounded warriors.
Diane Smith has for many years been active in adopting and supporting American servicemen and women and returning veterans. Over the years she has adopted more than 1,000 individuals and sent care packages to American military personal stationed in war zones across the globe.
Diane Vaksdal Smith is an award-winning attorney and a former Magistrate Judge for Colorados Seventeenth Judicial District. Diane focuses her practice on employment law and has dedicated her career to protecting the rights of individual employees and employers. Dianes commitment to the law has resulted in her being voted Barristers Best Employment Attorney in 2010 and Peoples Choice Best Employment Lawyer in 2011 and 2012 by Law Week Colorado. As ACE co-owner Steve Price puts it, Its all about honoring many through the memory of one. Merle Overholt was the patriarch of the Price and Overholt families. A beloved husband, brother and grandfather, Merle was a Veteran of extraordinary circumstances serving from 1942 to 1963 in no less than three branches of the United States Armed Forces; Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard. After dedicating much of his life to his country, Merle returned home to Denver and spent the remainder of his life serving his community. Last month, Merle Overholt passed away but his dedication and lifetime of service lives on, serving as the genesis for the ACE End of Summer Donation DRIVE to Honor Returning Colorado Veterans. ACE has created four simple ways for Northern Coloradans to participate in this very worthy cause.
Make a Donation:?Every Thursday, starting August 30th through September 20th, from Noon to 4:00 pm, stop by ACE at 900 E.
